A Cut Off man was arrested Wednesday after he forced his way into the home of a woman and threatened her with a screwdriver, the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office reported.

Sidney Ricard, 37, of 347 East 47th St., was charged with violation of a protective order, aggravated burglary, simple battery, criminal damage to property and resisting an officer.

The incident occurred on Saturday, May 12, when Ricard went to his victim’s home, forced his way in and approached her in the bedroom armed with a screwdriver, the sheriff’s office said. Ricard pushed the woman against the wall and then drive the tool into the wall. He left the home, warning her not to meet with ex-husband on Mother’s Day, according to authorities.

When deputies attempted to arrest Ricard in Golden Meadow, he refused to put his hands behind his back and comply, the sheriff’s office said.

Ricard was booked at the South Lafourche Substation, and then transported to the Detention Center in Thibodaux.

Ricard’s criminal past includes DWI charges, simple assault, drugs (Schedule II), worthless checks and contempt of court. On April 25, he was arrested for domestic abuse battery and reckless operation of a vehicle. Authorities said the protective order Ricard is charged with having violated was issued as a result of that battery.
