A Disaster Recovery Center will be open in Dulac Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., until further notice.

The staff can answer questions about registration for disaster assistance and hazard mitigation and assist with disaster loan applications.

Residents must be registered with the Federal Emergency Management Agency to receive federal assistance. Call FEMA at 1-800-621-3362 for more information.

FEMA registration dates have been extended. Registration for Hurricane Gustav ends Friday, Nov. 14, and for Hurricane Ike registration ends Wednesday, Nov. 26.

Residents must register for Gustav and Ike separately if they suffered damages from both storms. Residents with uninhabitable houses who need temporary housing assistance can call the Parish Office of Emergency Preparedness at (985) 873-6357

As of Oct. 20 in Terrebonne Parish, 24,645 residents have applied for more than $11 million in assistance from FEMA for Hurricane Gustav. For Hurricane Ike, 4,825 residents have applied to FEMA for nearly $3 million in assistance.

Terrebonne Parish government has resumed delinquent disconnects of utility accounts following a suspension due to the recent hurricanes. Payments can be made at the first floor of the Government Tower building (8026 Main Street) or in the drop box in the tower’s parking lot. Payments can also be made at Capital One, Regions, South Louisiana or Whitney banks.
