Officials in Terrebonne and Lafourche parishes expect voter turnout for next Saturday’s runoff election to be lower than the Oct. 24 primary elections.

Jackie Aucoin, Lafourche Parish Deputy Registar of Voters, said her department expects just above 30 percent of voters to show up for the run-off. Lafourche voters notched a 40 percent turnout rate in the Oct. 24 primary.

Rhonda Rogers, Terrebonne Parish Registrar of Voters, predicts a better turnout for this year’s primary election. The parish had a 38 percent turnout last month. According to Rogers, in the 2011 run-off elections, the parish had a 22 percent turnout after hitting about 40 percent in the primary.

Early voting continues until this Saturday.

In addition to the governor’s race, voters will elect a parish president in Lafourche, representatives in Districts 51 and 53 and several parish council seats in Lafourche and Terrebonne parishes.
