East Thibodaux to receive paved street

The Lafourche Parish School Board held a special meeting last Tuesday to begin the process of paving a street at East Thibodaux Middle School.

The board voted unanimously to accept LA Contracting Enterprise’s low bid of $189,981 in a special session, immediately following the Land and Facilities Management Committee’s approval of the bid.

“The reason we had a special meeting regarding the East Thibodaux paving is to make sure that once it is approved, we can have the contract document signed soon enough to make sure this project can be completed before the start of school,” said Maintenance Department Assistant Manager Marcus Danos.

Danos said the school board has already taken into account the possibility of weather delays, although they are not expected.

“We do have a contingency plan in place in case the weather hampers that work, so we would have an alternate route for busses, students and people,” said Danos.
