SLECA asks residents to be aware of a scam involving people calling and claiming they are from the electric company to demand immediate payment for a delinquent account.
The company said it would not call anyone during the day demanding immediate payment and would not call after hours or the weekend demanding immediate payment.
If someone is skeptical of the call they should hang up on the person and call the SLECA office.
