Update: 1:30 p.m.

Lafourche Parish Schools Spokesman Floyd Benoit confirmed to The Times that schools in the parish will begin early dismissal.


High schools and middle schools will begin dismissing at 1:30 p.m. Elementary schools in Lafourche will begin dismissing at 2 p.m. or as buses arrive.

Update: 1:15 p.m.

Heavy rains have caused road closures and at least one school closing in Lafourche Parish, according to updates issued by parish government officials.


A flash flood warning continues through 7 pm.

Galliano/Cut Off Field Office, 128 West 9th Street, Cut Off

Thibodaux, LA – Due to excessive rainfall, the following Thibodaux roads are currently closed:

7th Street, in front of Lafourche Parish School Board


7th Street, between Jackson Street and Harrison Street

Lagarde Street at East 7th Street

Bobby Street


Menard Street at Audubon Avenue

Thibodaux City Police report that St. Charles Street is closed at the 1200 block and the area is closed to traffic.

Other Thibodaux road closures are:


Canal Boulevard, in front of Stark Complex (Thibodaux Police Department)

Jackson Street at St. Mary

Plater Drive


Louise Street

7th Street at Jackson Street

Rienzi Extension, between St. Patrick and Canal Boulevard


St. Charles Street, between Pecan and Canal Boulevard

Canal Boulevard at School Street

Canal at Talbot Avenue

Officers with the Thibodaux Police Department are closely monitoring the roadways and we will submit updates, when available. If you must travel in the area, motorists are asked to drive with extreme caution. Do not enter or cross flowing water or water of unknown depth.


Street flooding has begun to occur in the streets of Thibodaux as heavy rains occurred on Tuesday afternoon.
