The Hike for KaTREEna Big TREEsy will give out 2,000 free trees from 9 to 11 a.m. tomorrow at the Terrebonne Parish Main Library in Houma. This Big TREEsy Giveaway, sponsored by Hike for KaTREEna and the Apache Foundation, part of the Apache Corporation, is a program to help replace more than 100,000 native Louisiana trees like cypress, live oak, red oak and magnolia that were lost during hurricanes Katrina and Isaac. The program has also given away trees in Jefferson, St. John the Baptist, St. Tammany and Orleans parishes.

Chris Towns, a volunteer with the Terrebonne Parish Tree Board, places trees in front of the Terrebonne Parish Public Library Main Branch in Houma. Seedlings of native Louisiana trees will be given away at the library from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26.
