Houma Police chased down and arrested a local man after he sideswiped a vehicle late Monday night.

Bike Officers Dexter Detiveaux and Patrick Theriot were patrolling Goode Street around 11:13 p.m. when bystanders stopped them and reported witnessing a southbound white car sideswiping another car and then leaving the scene, according to department spokesman Lt. Todd Duplantis.

The officers chased the white car south on Goode Street to Point Street, where the car turned, he said. The vehicle turned again on Grinage Street and then onto Bond, where it was traveling against eastbound traffic, Duplantis said.

Officers were finally able to stop the vehicle on Bond Street, just west of Goode Street.

The driver, Noah Ezell, 24, of 323 Broad St., Houma, openly admitted hitting the other car and then leaving the scene, Duplantis said. He told police that he did not think the damage was bad and that he was trying to get to the civic center.

Ezell was arrested for hit-and-run.

As police searched the Houma man, Duplantis said they found a clear cellophane bag containing several white elongated pills believed to be Zanbar in his pants pockets.

Ezell’s passenger, Christopher Eugene, 22, of 216 Cypress Village, Houma, had a clear cellophane bag containing a green leafy substance suspected to be marijuana in his pants pocket with a cellophane bag containing another white pill identified as Zanbar.

Police found another clear cellophane bag containing several more white elongated pills (Zanbars) inside the car, along with two 200ml bottles of “Early Times” brand whiskey. One of the bottles was completely empty and the other had a little missing, Duplantis said.

A local wrecker company towed the vehicle from the scene.

Ezell was charged with hit-and-run driving, careless operation, open container, and one-way street.

Duplantis said the two men were turned over to the Terrebonne Parish Narcotics Division where they were subsequently charged with possession of illegal narcotics.
