Houma Police arrested a homeless man for disturbing the peace by intoxication Tuesday night after receiving complaints that he was approaching cars at a traffic light and asking for money.

Police said Ricky Roddy, 45, appeared to be highly intoxicated when he was caught panhandling at the intersection of Lafayette and Main streets in Houma around 10:54 p.m.

According to officers, Roddy had trouble standing and was staggering as he approached motorists.

Roddy was charged and transported to the Terrebonne Parish Jail, police said.
