A Houma man dies Wednesday morning when his SUV veered off the road and hit several trees on La. 182 (Bayou Black Road), just west of Houma, state police reported.

George Snyder II, 62, lost control of his 1993 Dodge Ram Charger as he was driving east on the state highway at 9:30 a.m., Trooper First Class Rodney Hyatt said.

Snyder, who was riding alone in the SUV, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Terrebonne Parish Coroner’s Office, he said.

Hyatt said state police do not believe alcohol was a factor in the crash, and that Snyder was properly buckled when he lost control of the vehicle.

Trooper Treone Larvadain is investigating the crash.
