A 45-year-old Houma man died early Tuesday when his Toyota spun into oncoming traffic on La. Highway 24 near Bollinger, state police said.

Leonard Folse was traveling south when his 2002 Toyota Echo began to spin counter-clockwise, veering across the centerline where an oncoming truck hit the car, authorities said. Richard Racki, 55, of Galliano, was driving the 2006 Ford F-350. Folse was pronounced dead at the scene.

Troop C spokesman Master Trooper Bryan Zeringue said investigators are unsure why Folse’s vehicle went into a spin.

Toxicology results are pending, he said.

Zeringue said Racki was wearing a seatbelt; however, Folse was not.

The crash remains under investigation as of press time.
