Houma Police arrested a local man Tuesday evening after a brief chase, a department spokesman said.

Police spotted the 1997 Cadillac Deville being driven by Gary Ross Jr., 21, of 129 Adoue St., Houma, speeding in the area of Laban and Glynn avenues, according to Lt. Todd Duplantis. Officers signaled for the Cadillac to pull over, but Ross refused to stop. He sped over the Dularge overpass to Highway 311. The chase led down St. Charles Street toward Park Avenue, Duplantis said.

At Holiday Drive, Ross stopped the vehicle and ran away. Duplantis said Houma Police and Terrebonne Sheriff’s Office deputies caught him after a brief foot pursuit.

Ross was charged with aggravated flight from an officer, driving under suspension and speeding. He was transported to the Terrebonne Parish Jail.

If convicted, Duplantis said Ross could face up to two years in prison at hard labor.
