Houma Police announces promotions
The Houma Police Department announced today that it has promoted Sgt. Nicole Voisin to Lieutenant and PFC Jarrod Matherne to Sergeant.
Voisin is a 20-plus-year employee of HPD, dating back to her start in 1998 as a police officer.
Prior to then, she served the agency as a radio dispatcher where she filtered calls.
During her career, Lt. Voisin has worked in the capacity of a patrol officer for an extended period of time. In 2007, she was assigned to the Detective Bureau where she worked as a juvenile investigator, domestic violence, as well as being directly involved with serious investigations within the division.
Voisin currently serves HPD as the Chief of Detectives and will remain in that capacity.
She is also an instructor for the department’s Rape Aggression Defense training, along with serving on the Youth and Children Planning Board, which is directly involved in initiatives surrounding our youth.
She said the highlight of her career so far is being involved in various investigations where justice is brought to those who cause harm to innocent children.
For Lt. Voisin, law enforcement is in the blood. She comes from a long list of family members who served within HPD.
For Sgt. Matherne, his career with HPD began in 2004 when he worked as a patrol officer.
He was then, in 2007, assigned to the Detective Bureau where he investigated an abundance of high-profile crimes.
Sgt. Matherne has served as HPD’s Domestic Violence coordinator during his tenure in investigations.
He was recently transferred to the Crime Scene Division where he excelled.
The new sergeant says the highlight of his career was being involved in domestic violence investigations where he becomes a voice for victims who are reluctant to leave abusive relationships.
Sgt. Matherne will serve HPD working alongside HPD’s Administration as the Internal Affairs/Public Integrity Investigator.
