February is American Heart Month, a time for the nation to come together to raise awareness of the importance of heart health and cardiovascular disease. Although heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States, there is a lot you can do to prevent it.

The Houma-Terrebonne Chamber of Commerce is partnering with the Cardiovascular Institute of the South to host a lunch and learn, discussing healthy habits that reduce the risk of heart disease. Dr. Shane Prejean of the Cardiovascular Institute of the South will discuss the number one health condition in the United States.

The lunch and learn will take place on Thursday, February 17, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Houma Chamber of Commerce office, located at 6133 Hwy 311.

Plate lunches are optional and will be $15 for members, and $25 for non-members. The deadline to order lunch is Wednesday, February 16.
