The men of Kappa Alpha PSI Fraternity is partnering with the Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Government to host its 10th Annual Merry Kappa Alpha Psi Holiday Festival on Saturday, Dec. 18, from 12 p.m. – 4 p.m. at the Barry P. Bonvillian Civic Center located at 346 Civic Center Blvd.

The annual festival will host a drive-thru toy & bike give-a-way. Kappa Alpha PSI received over $20,000 in donations, and will distribute over 300 bicycles and 80 scooters. Toys will be provided by Toys for Tots and will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis.

“We come from a philanthropic environment and we just believe in charitable giving,” said John Navy, member of the Terrebonne Parish Council District 1. “The aspect of it is we know that Hurricane Ida was a catastrophic storm that devastated our community, so we want to show the show the people that even though we’re a very resilient and strong community, we want to make sure the kids have a great foundation as far as the being in the Christmas spirit,” Navy added.

The festival was coordinated by  District Attorney Joseph L. Waitz Jr., Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet, Former Councilwoman Arlanda J. Williams, The Marines Corps League Toys for Tots Program, Parish President Gordan E. Dove, NSN Louisiana,  the EPHD-SU Cohorts, and Kappa Alpha PSI

District D Councilwoman Jessica Domangue said this year’s festival is extra special due to the many hardships the community has faced. “ This year, the toy drive is so much more special, especially due to everything the children in this community have experienced. Starting with Covid, Hurricane Ida, losing their home, just living through the trauma”

“It’s important for us to give back, and for me personally it just makes this event so much more special,” Domangue added.

“Hopefully we can keep going, Every year the event is fantastic and I’m hoping this year goes the same way.” said Navy.
