The 3rd Annual Kause for Critters 5K Race, Dog Walk and Silent Auction will be held Sunday, April 7, 2013 at Peltier Park in Thibodaux, LA. The event is to honor the life and work of K.C. Toups, DVM, a local veterinarian, who at age 29, was killed by a repeat-offender drunk driver. That driver is now serving a 30 year prison term for vehicular homicide. K.C. was a vibrant, passionate veterinarian at Lafourche Animal Hospital and was transporting several pets to a satellite office in Lower Lafourche when his life was tragically ended. Proceeds from this race are used to fund the LSU Vet School Scholarship in K.C.’s name. His parents Randy and Debbie Harlan Toups, and sister, Randi Lynn, want to keep his spirit alive by helping another young vet student achieve their goal of becoming a veterinarian. Registration begins at 8AM, Dog Walk at 9AM, and 5K begins at 9:30. Registration on race day is $25 adults, $20 children. Early registration ($5 off adult and children) ends March 18.  Food, snacks and beverages will be available through the generous donations of friends, families, and local businesses.  For more information, to volunteer or donate, please call Lafourche Animal Hospital at 985-447-6100.
