Kay Thibodeaux, one of the original founders of Leadership Terrebonne, will be retiring from the program this year after over 30 years of involvement helping shape the future leaders in the parish.

Leadership Terrebonne was started in 1993 following an assessment in the parish that highlighted a need for a leadership program so that business leaders, individuals, and others could work to improve their skills. Thibodeaux, who served as Member Services Coordinator for the Houma Terrebonne Chamber of Commerce for 40 years, was around from the very start to help visualize, create, and implement what is now Leadership Terrebonne.

“The program was supposed to start in 1992, but Hurricane Andrew postponed the project until 1993– so I’ve really been with Leadership Terrebonne since before it even began,” said Thibodeaux. “I have served as Executive Director Leadership Terrebonne up until a few years ago, and as other board members begin to step up, I am ready to step down– I am really looking forward to retirement, and it has been such an honor and a pleasure to work in this program.”

“Kay has been with the program since the very beginning,” said Karen Schilling, current Executive Director of Leadership Terrebonne. “She is the keeper of history, a guardian of the program, and it has been amazing to work alongside her all these years. Kay has been truly outstanding, and the glue for Leadership Terrebonne.”

Congratulations to Kay Thibodeaux for 30 years of outstanding accomplishments!
