Representatives from the Louisiana Recovery Authority and Louisiana Speaks will meet Wednesday with the constituents of Terrebonne Parish to discuss their involvement in the long-term regional vision.

Sponsored by the Houma-Terrebonne Chamber of Commerce, the meeting is the last official public LA Speaks event in the Tri-parish area. It will be held at 4 p.m. in the Terrebonne Parish Council Chambers on Main Street. The guest speaker is Glen Bolen, of the Fregonese-Calthrope Association.

Louisiana Speaks, a multi-faceted planning process, launched a three-week public outreach campaign for citizens to address coastal protection and economic development in South Louisiana earlier this month.

“Our mission is to gather information from the community and community leaders concerning coastal restoration and protection. We would like to know what is of value and priority to the people in Terrebonne and Lafourche parishes. Their responses will serve as the foundation for what we are calling the regional vision,” said Louisiana Recovery Authority’s Deputy Communications Director Melissa Landry.

According to Fregonese Calthorpe Associates, the firm hired to oversee the planning, this process is one of the single largest engagement processes in U.S. history.

The LRA and Louisiana Speaks are coordinating with the Coastal Protection and Restoration Agency to reach the communities.
