Lafourche Councilman Aaron Caillouet, who missed the past two parish council meetings, is hospitalized, his wife said.

“Aaron remains hospitalized following complications from surgery,” Susan Caillouet said in a statement emailed Monday via the council clerk. “He is in ICU in guarded condition. We wish to thank everyone for their prayers and get well wishes.”

Caillouet, 71, was elected to the council in 2011 to represent District 3, mostly comprised of municipal Thibodaux. He was parish president from 1996 to 2000 and prior to that served eight years on the Thibodaux city council.

Caillouet retired as professor of management, finance and accounting at Nicholls State University after 23 years and is an adjunct professor at Troy University, teaching online graduate courses. He owns a management and financial consulting business, as well as a sportswear store in Southland Mall.
