The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office said an award is being offered for information leading to the arrest of a person or persons who shot and killed a Thibodaux family’s pet dog while the family was away on vacation.

The Sheriff’s Office said in a release Thursday afternoon that deputies responded to a home in the 300 block of Cedar Tree Drive Monday morning after learning the family returned from a weekend trip and found their pet dog deceased from an apparent gunshot wound.

The alleged crime happened between last Friday (Nov. 7) at 4 p.m. and Monday (Nov. 10) at 9 a.m.

Detectives said three males believed to be around 13 years old were seen riding a camouflage-colored, all-terrain vehicle in the area. The males are considered persons of interest, according to the sheriff’s office.

Anyone with information on the alleged crime or can help identify the males is asked to contact Crime Stoppers Bayou Region at 1-800-743-7433. Tipsters can remain anonymous and could be eligible for a reward up to $1,000 in cash if the information given leads to an arrest.
