The Lafourche Parish Council is looking for a few good men and women who live in the parish to serve.

There are 57 seats up for grabs to serve on various parish boards and commissions.

Applications are available at the parish office in Thibodaux, 402 Green Street, call 985-446-8427.


Applications can be delivered to the attention of Kelli Toups, at 402 Green Street, or they can be mailed to her at Kelli Toups, P.O. Drawer 5548, Thibodaux, LA 70302.

The deadline for applications will be Monday, April 15 at 1 p.m.

The boards, seats available, and requirements are:


  • One seat on the Coastal Zone Management Advisory Committee
  • Three seats on the Drainage District No 6 Board, and you must be a parish resident or a representative for a corporation owning land within the Drainage No 6 district
  • One seat on Fire Protection District No 1 board, and you must be a property taxpayer residing in the boundaries of the Fire Protection No 1 district
  • One seat on Fire Protection District No 4 board, and you must be a property taxpayer residing in the boundaries of the Fire Protection No 4 district
  • One seat on Fire Protection District No 7 board, and you must be a property taxpayer residing in the boundaries of the Fire Protection No 7 district
  • Two seats on the Heroes Monument Commission and you must be a commission police officer employed for a minimum of five years, and a qualified voter who lives outside of Ward 10
  • Two seats on the Heroes Monument Commission and you must be a fireman that has served for a minimum of five years, and a qualified voter who lives outside of Ward 10
  • One seat on the Hospital Service District No 1, and you must be a resident of Ward 10
  • Five seats on Recreation District No 1, and you must be a qualified voter residing in the boundaries of Recreation District No 1
  • Seven seats on Recreation District No 11, and you must be a qualified voter residing in the boundaries of Recreation District No 11
  • Five seats on Recreation District No 2, and you must be a qualified voter residing in the boundaries of Recreation District No 2
  • Seven seats on Recreation District No 3, and you must be a qualified voter residing in the boundaries of Recreation District No 3
  • Four seats on Recreation District No 4, and you must be a qualified voter residing in the boundaries of Recreation District No 4
  • Five seats on Recreation District No 5, and you must be a qualified voter residing in the boundaries of Recreation District No 5
  • Five seats on Recreation District No 8, and you must be a qualified voter residing in the boundaries of Recreation District No 8
  • Two seats on Sewage District No 1, and you must be a resident residing in the boundaries of Sewage District No 1
  • One seat on Sewage District No 7, and you must be a property taxpayer of the Bayou Vista Subdivision
  • One seat on the South Louisiana Human Services Authority, and you must be represent the medical field (MD, RN, or Coroner’s Office) or the judicial system (Judge, District Attorney’s office or Law Enforcement)
  • One seat on the Terrebonne Parish Fire Protection District No 5, and you must be a qualified voter residing in the boundaries of the Terrebonne Parish Fire District No 5
  • One seat on Water District No 1, and you must be a parish resident residing in North Lafourche.
