UPDATE: 8:20 p.m.

Nicholls State University will also delay school tomorrow in an effort to keep students safe and roads clear with severe weather in the forecast.

The university sent out an alert on Wednesday night saying that classes will begin at the 3TR period and the university will open at 10:30 a.m. to allow the weather to pass.

The Lafourche Parish School System will delay the start of school by two hours and 15 minutes on Thursday to allow excess time for forecasted severe weather to leave our area.

The parish announced that decision on its Facebook page this evening, citing a cold front that will pass through the area overnight and into Thursday morning, which has our area at an enhanced risk for severe weather.

The statement in its entirety is as follows:

Due to the high probability of severe weather tomorrow morning November 1, 2018, Lafourche Parish Public schools will delay its take in times 2 hours and 15 minutes later than normal. A 7:15 am take in time will now be 9:30 am, a 7:45 take in time will now be 10:00 am, and an 8:30 take in time will be 10:45 am.

All office personnel will report to work with a 2-hour delay. 7:30 am take in will now be 9:30 am.

Dismissal time will remain at the normal time.

Thank you for your understanding as we will proceed with caution with this potential weather threat.

No decision has yet been made by Terrebonne schools.
