Lafourche Parish celebrated its bicentennial last Saturday

Lafourche Parish celebrated its bicentennial last Saturday at the Raceland Recreation Center. The day-long event allowed locals celebrated the history of Lafourche Parish in a variety of ways, including displays, food, music and senior storytellers. Over 40 displays were set up, and 13 different musical acts performed. Because of Lafourche’s agricultural history, old farm equipment was on display next to present-day John Deere sugarcane harvesters. There were also discussions on the parish’s French heritage.
