During his update this morning, Lafourche Parish President Archie Chaisson said he was told the fifth confirmed COVID-19 Lafourche patient is doing well.

“We have received some reports from the family that she is home resting and doing well,” he said.

Chaisson also said most of the coronavirus patients are doing better and starting to recover, and the total confirmed cases in Lafourche is still five.

Lafourche libraries will be closed completely and will be entirely virtual starting Monday, March 23, he updated.

Currently, the libraries are offering curbside service as well as online. Their virtual numbers have “shot up,” and few people are using the curbside service, Chaisson said, so the Parish is redirecting staff to the virtual side.

All government offices are still closed to public access until further notice, he added during his briefing, and offices are still available by phone, email and Facebook.
