Since yesterday, 5,873 new cases out of 24,241 tests have been reported to LDH. Test volume dropped dramatically over the holiday because testing sites were closed everywhere on Saturday and closed most places on Sunday.

Since December 30, 2021, 31,161 new Covid cases have been reported to the state. That’s out of 123,530 tests. The COVID-19 dashboard will be updated with the cumulative numbers since 12/30.

Today we report 1,106 COVID hospitalizations. 76.8% of those hospitalized are not up to date on their vaccines.
This update includes new cases among all age groups, with the largest shares among those ages 18-29 (23%) and ages 30-39 (18%).

This update includes new cases across all regions of the state, with 30% coming from Region 1 (Greater New Orleans), 14% coming from Region 2 (Baton Rouge) and 14% coming from Region 7 (Northwest).

Of these new cases reported to LDH since 12/30, 97.2% are tied to community spread rather than congregate settings.

Tragically, we report 15 additional Covid deaths reported to the state since 12/30. Louisiana has reached 15,001 cumulative total deaths due to COVID-19.

Terrebonne Parish reported an additional 522 new cases since 12/30. That brings the total to 21,654.

Lafourche Parish has reported a total of 19,664 cases.

(The 1/3/22 vaccine dashboard update is delayed. It will be updated as soon as possible.)
