Was your marine fisheries/seafood business affected by Hurricane Ida, Laura, Delta, or Zeta?

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries has teamed up with LSU AgCenter to assess economic impacts from recent hurricanes on marine fisheries-related businesses. Your input is needed for an economic impact report that will be used to measure the economic impacts from the Hurricanes of 2020 and 2021.

Whether those impacts were large or small, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife wants to hear from you.

Who should participate in the survey?

  • Seafood Producers

  • Seafood Harvesters

  • Seafood Dealers

  • Seafood Processors

  • Charter Boat Operations

  • Marinas

  • Bait shops

  • Other marine fisheries businesses.

What information is being requested?

This survey asks business owners and operators to provide estimates of the value of their marine fisheries businesses and any losses to those businesses that might have resulted from Hurricanes Laura, Delta, or Zeta in 2020 – or Hurricane Ida in 2021.

How will the information be used?

Responses from this survey will be combined with wind and surge data to estimate the economic impacts of these hurricanes in different coastal areas.

What is the benefit to me as a respondent?

Your participation will ensure that a timely and accurate report is available in support of federal aid requests and future recovery programs for Louisiana’s fishing communities.

Is the survey voluntary and confidential?

Yes. The survey is voluntary and all responses are confidential. You may change your mind and withdraw at any time without penalty or loss of any benefits for which you might be otherwise entitled.

The survey is available online here.

Participation in this survey is voluntary and confidential. If you have any questions or comments regarding this questionnaire, please direct them to Rex Caffey (rcaffey@lsu.edu) or Jack Isaacs (jisaacs@wlk.la.gov)
