As part of a project to return Christmas decorations to Downtown Houma, Leadership Terrebonne group leader Shantelle Abshire has announced an official “Snow Schedule” — where faux snow will create a winter wonderland at the Rotary Centennial Plaza.

“For our project, we decided to work on finding Christmas decorations for downtown in partnership with the Houma Downtown Development Board— since virtually all of Houma’s decorations were lost in Hurricane Ida,” said Shantelle Abshire, leader of this group. “We thought that with all the recent efforts to move the parish forward, this would be a great way to bring festivity during the Christmas season.”

Snow will fall everyday for 15 minutes from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at the Downtown Houma Rotary Centennial Plaza, from December 3, 2023-January 3, 2024.

Other Christmas decorations that will be featured downtown include 7-foot-tall gingerbread men, a sleigh, and a community Christmas tree.
