One area dentist is using his skill to bring brighter smiles to the neighborhood while helping disabled and special needs children in the community.

Crown Council dentist Dr. James Stafford of Vacherie is participating in a campaign to raise money for local and national children’s charities, giving youngsters a reason to smile.

Stafford said he is offering professional teeth whitening services from March to June in exchange for a personal donation to the Smiles for Life Foundation.

Through a unique partnership with country performer Garth Brooks and his Teammates for Kids Foundation, Smiles for Life guarantees that 50 percent of the monies raised by the Crown Council goes to children’s charities in communities across North America. The remaining contribution will go to Stafford’s charity of choice, the Bayouland Families Helping Families campaign in Southeast Louisiana.

“The BLFHF is a resource center for individuals and families of children with disabilities and special needs in the local area,” Stafford said.

The dentist said the procedure is quick and painless and provides good results.

“The professional teeth whitening procedure requires a few minutes in a dental chair. Patients can have whiter teeth in just a few days. Those minutes spent in the dental chair and at home can help touch the lives of children,” Stafford said.

According to Crown Council Director Greg Anderson, the annual Smile for Life campaign has raised more than $22 million since it began in 1998. The funds have benefited nearly 500 charities. Since Stafford joined the campaign, he has raised more than $10,000 locally.

Stafford can be reached at (225) 265-3026.
