Shipbuilding magnate Donald T. “Boysie” Bollinger has been elected to the board of directors of First Bank and Trust.

Bollinger is the chairman, president and chief executive officer of Bollinger Shipyards Inc., a full-service marine construction and ship repair company headquartered in Lockport. It has been in operation since 1946, and has 12 divisions in Louisiana and one in Texas.

“Boysie’s knowledge of the Gulf Coast markets served by the financial-services subsidiaries of First Trust Corporation, as well as his vision and leadership, bring tremendous strength to our organization,” said J. Michael Brown, president and CEO of First Bank and Trust. “We look forward to his counsel and guidance as we continue to expand our services to our small-business, consumer and commercial customers.”

Bollinger is a member of the Louisiana Recovery Authority, the Bring New Orleans Back Commission, as well as chairman of the Nicholls State University Foundation. He is also on the National Petroleum Council.
