Terrebonne Parish building code permit fees are going up, depending on the size of the work. The Terrebonne Parish Council agreed last Wednesday to amend its code of ordinances to set new building codes and permit fees.


The fees for the following permit applications will now apply:

• New residential construction n 46 cents per square foot


• New commercial construction n 60 cents per square foot


• New institutional construction n 60 cents per square foot

For residential and commercial interior and exterior residential renovations, landscaping, swimming pools:


• Under $2,500, the permit fee will be $25. This fee includes one inspection; for each additional inspection required, there will be an additional fee of $75.


• $2,501 to $10,000, the permit fee will be $100. This fee also includes one inspection; for each additional inspection required, there will be an additional fee of $75.

• $10,001 and above, the permit fee will be $200. This fee also includes one inspection; for each additional inspection required, there will be an additional fee of $75.

For all plumbing, electrical, gas and mechanical permits, there will be a base fee of $50 and $75 for one inspection, for a total of $125. Each inspection afterward will be $75 a visit.

For all mobile homes, there will be a fee of $150.

For certificates of occupancy and compliance, there will be a fee of $100.

For off-premise outdoor advertising structures, and Mardi Gras reviewing stands, there will be a fee of $100.

Commercial off-street parking lots will be assessed a fee of $1 for every 500 square feet of area.

For residential and commercial storage and utility buildings, there will be no charge for those 200 square feet and under; over 200 square feet will have a charge of 46 cents per square foot.

There will also be a $200 fee for an annual maintenance permit for commercial and institutional properties that have maintenance department staffs, according to the new rates.
