As one of 38 Louisiana hospitals to receive the recognition, Leonard J. Chabert Medical Center has received the 2010 Louisiana Hospital Capstone Quality Award for achieving a list of improvements in quality of health care for patients.

“The award is another indication of the quality health care we provide,” said Leonard J. Chabert Medical Center CEO Rhonda Green in a printed statement. “Day in and day out our staff adheres to the highest standards for the benefit of our patients. We continually strive to improve our patient healthcare according to nationally recognized, evidence-based standards.”

The Louisiana Hospital Capstone Quality Award recognizes hospital achievement in appropriate care for patients with diagnoses of acute myocardial infarction, heart failure, community-acquired pneumonia, and improvements in care related to measures outlined in the surgical care Improvement Project.

The Health Care Services Division of LSU Health, of which Leonard J. Chabert Medical Center is one of seven members, is one of the largest public health care delivery systems in the nation. Together the system registers more than 37,000 inpatient admissions, 576,000 outpatient clinic visits and 269,000 emergency department cases.

Leonard J. Chabert Medical Center opened in Houma in 1978.
