Leonard J. Chabert Medical Center’s staff raked in several awards for quality health care at the 11th annual LSU Health Care Services Division’s recent forum.


The Health Care Effectiveness Forum, entitled “Eliminating Disparities and Improving Access to Relationship-Centered Care,” was held in Baton Rouge. In all, seven LSU HCSD hospitals competed.


Chabert won first place honors for clinical excellence in cancer screening; clinical excellence for congestive heart failure care, and most improved in its care of congestive heart failure patients.

Second-place honors were awarded to Chabert for clinical excellence in diabetic care and in HIV/AIDS care.

The LSU Health System, one of the nation’s largest public health care delivery systems, has over 60,000 admissions, 350,000 patient days, 1 million outpatient visits and over 350,000 emergency department visits annually. It is the largest single provider of uncompensated inpatient care in Louisiana.
