Gamblers lost $135.9 million at Louisiana’s state-regulated riverboat casinos in November, $21.5 million less than a year ago, according to state police data released on Tuesday.

The 12 percent drop stemmed mainly from decreases in revenue at the Baton Rouge and New Orleans riverboat casinos. The Belle of Baton Rouge and Casino Rouge took in a combined $5.9 million less, or 24 percent, than in November 2005; the Boomtown New Orleans and Treasure Chest casinos took in a combined $14 million less, or 38.8 percent, than last year, according to the figures.

The five riverboats in the Shreveport-Bossier City market won 4.6 percent more, or $2.5 million, than last November.

The three Lake Charles boats were down a combined 3.2 percent, or $1.3 million. That drop was due to a 5.8 percent decrease in revenue, $1.3 million, at the L’Auberge du Lac casino. Revenue at the Grand Palais and Isle of Capri boats was roughly the same as last November, according to the data.

Gamblers at Harrah’s New Orleans casino lost $32.6 million, up from $30.6 million in October. The land-based Harrah’s casino was closed last November, due to Hurricane Katrina.
