Brenda G. Hansen, B.S., MEd., FACHE, who is director of education and training at Thibodaux Regional Medical Center, was recently awarded the 2007 Golden Pen Award for New Authors. The National Association of Healthcare Quality presented the award at its Boston Conference in September.


Hansen wrote “Reducing Nosocomial Urinary Tract Infections through Process Improvement,” which appeared in the Journal for Healthcare Quality as a Web exclusive in March/April 2006.

A member of Thibodaux Regional’s staff since 1995, Hansen is a member of the executive team. She received a bachelor’s degree in microbiology from Louisiana State University and master’s degree in education from Nicholls State University. Hansen, a published author in the Journal for Healthcare Quality, is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, and board member of the Bayou Region Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
