Touting enhancements to several features and greater usability, the Louisiana Department of Labor unveiled it’s redesigned Web site n www.LAWORKS.net — this week.

“By continuing to update and improve the Web site, we make it easier and more convenient for our users to find the information they need,” said the department’s Webmaster Larry Aiken.

Among the significant changes, users will find a listing of job fairs and events, which are available in summary or calendar mode. Aiken said the new design will make it easier to find job fair listings statewide, which is a benefit to employees with positions to fill and jobseekers looking for work opportunities.

From the site’s homepage, workers and employers can access targeted information on www.LAWORKS.net. Drop-down menus provide regional Labor Department services, as well as information at the city leve. And a search tool at the top of each page makes each page more user-friendly, Aiken noted.

“The Labor Department Web site provides a wealth of information for employers and jobseekers alike,” said Secretary of Labor John Warner Smith. “With this redesign, we have made accessing that information as simple as possible.”

A Louisiana Youth Works section provides advance to young people on finding the best career path and job-hunting tips.

The Louisiana Virtual One-Stop continues to provide up-to-the-minute information on job vacancies and details on labor market trends, training opportunities and recruitment services.

Also prominent in the redesign is a link to a Web site user survey, which gives users the opportunity to comment on their experience with the new functions of the site.
