Summer heat in southern Louisiana offers one certainty – as cooling usage skyrockets the bills delivered with those costs often exceed family budgets.

Entergy Southeast Regional customer Service Manager Henry Gernhauser offered a reminder that the electric utility does have a level billing program helps residential customers budget their energy costs throughout the year by averaging out the expense.

“Making the right energy-efficiency choices is your best bet for controlling summertime energy costs,” Gernhauser said. “During the months of extreme heat, bills can fluctuate and escalate quite a bit with electricity usage. That’s when Entergy’s level billing program can be one of your most powerful account management tools, helping to take the surprise out of monthly electricity costs and putting you in better control of how and when you pay your bill.”

Gernhauser explained that the level billing program is a budgeting plan that will increase winter costs slightly with the averaging of monthly statements to offset severely higher electric bills associated with summer. The typical reduction on high summer bills applied to the level billing plan have reached as much as 40 percent for some customers.

“Enrolling in level billing is almost like getting interest-free financing for your electric costs,” Gernhauser said. You’re still paying for the power you use, but you’re able to do so in regular, manageable amounts spread out over the year with no added interest charges.”

Information on level billing can be secured by calling (800) 368-3749 or on entergy.com or entergy-louisiana.com. Customers are instructed to log into “My Account” online, then click on billing options to navigate their way to manageable overall costs.
