Area shutterbugs of all ages, grab your cameras. The Louisiana Universities Marine Consortium is seeking entries for its 2009 photography contest.

The theme of this year’s competition is “Louisiana’s Marine Natural Resources.”

Each April, LUMCON hosts a photo exhibition highlighting the year’s entries, LUMCON spokeswoman Trudy Hebert said. The top shots, which will be announced by May 1, also appear in various LUMCON publications and on the organization’s Web site. (Participation in the contest constitutes approval to publish the photos. Contestants must own all rights to submitted works.)

Original color or black and white prints or digital images – at least 300 dpi in JPEG or TIFF format – are eligible. Prints must be between 4-by-6 inches and 8-by-10 inches in diameter.

Previous entries or published photographs are not eligible.

Photographers may enter up to five entries per person.

Contest divisions include kids (12 and under), teens (13-18), adults (18 and over) LUMCON employees.

All entries should be postmarked no later than April 1 to qualify. Late or incomplete entries will not be considered.

LUMCON will not confirm or return entries.

For a complete set of rules and entry form, visit LUMCON online at www.lumcon.edu/lagniappe/photocontest. Entries may be mailed to LUMCON at 8124 Hwy. 56, Chauvin, La., 70344, or e-mailed to lumconnews@lumcon.edu.
