As many as 40 small businesses in need of help getting off the ground may qualify for funding through a local program.

The South Louisiana Economic Council (SLEC) announced this week that its Technical Assistance Network has received additional funding to aid small companies in Lafourche, Terrebonne and St. Mary parishes.

According to SLEC CEO Vic Lafont, companies can receive a hand with marketing, accounting, business plan development and other key services via the program.

“Few things are as rewarding as seeing our homegrown businesses succeed,” he said. “The Technical Assistance Network has provided the support to allow businesses to do the things that they cannot always get around to, and yet need to do to be successful.”
