Naquin new CFO at Nicholls

Nicholls State University administrator Mike Naquin was named interim associate vice president for finance and chief financial officer effective Jan. 19, following the retirement of Lionel Naquin Jr., former vice president for finance and administration.

“Nicholls is very fortunate to have Mike taking the financial reins,” Dr. Stephen T. Hulbert, university president, said. “His decades of experience and dedication to this institution and the city of Thibodaux will serve us well.”

A native of Thibodaux and a certified public accountant, Naquin graduated from Nicholls with a bachelor’s degree in accounting in 1978. He began his professional career at Nicholls in 1979, initially hired as the university’s internal auditor and later promoted to assistant controller and controller. He was named assistant vice president for business affairs and controller in July 2001, a title later changed to assistant vice president for finance.

Naquin, who also serves as fire chief of the Thibodaux Volunteer Fire Department, lives in Thibodaux with his wife Jill and their daughter Brooke. Although he shares his last name with his predecessor at Nicholls, they are not related.
