Renee Piper has been named director of university relations at Nicholls State University, pending approval by the University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors.

“I am delighted to have Renee join the Nicholls family as our director of university relations,” said Dr. Stephen T. Hulbert, NSU president. “She brings with her a broad background of experience and accomplishments, as well as the necessary professional skills, to help us promote this wonderful university.”

David Boudreaux, vice president for institutional advancement, echoed Hulbert’s sentiment. “Renee is a great addition to this university’s professional staff,” he said. “Her energy, combined with her professionalism, will enable us to continue our recent initiatives in promoting all that is good about Nicholls State University.”

A native of Baton Rouge, Piper earned a bachelor’s degree in science with a major in merchandising at Louisiana State University. She worked in marketing and public relations with Maison Blanche and Parisians department stores, as well as The Limited and Gap.

Piper is also credited as the brainstorm behind Harrah’s grand opening campaign, which Harrah’s Entertainment, Inc., President and CEO Phil Satre described as “the most spectacular grand opening in company history.”

Piper is married to John P. Piper. They have two children, Hayden and Riley.

“I am delighted to be able to serve this great university in this capacity,” Piper said, in accepting the appointment. “Nicholls is so important to the region it serves, and we must continue to get our success stories out for all to see. I am fortunate to inherit a very capable staff, and I look forward to working with each one of them, as well as with the entire university.”
