Are you about to graduate high school? Does your parent or guardian belong to SCIA?

If so, you are eligible to apply for a SCIA scholarship.

The program awards scholarships to soon-to-be graduates attending in-state schools, including community colleges. Both Nicholls State University and Fletcher Technical Community College are included in the SCIA scholarship program.

Applications are available at www.sciaonline.net. Click the “Scholarship Program” link. Complete the form and return it to SCIA, P.O. Box 2143, Houma, La. 70360. For more information, call the office at 985-851-2201.

Among the scholarships to be awarded are the Otis T. Logue, Aimee Celeste Legarde Scholarship, which is awarded to a Fletcher student; two Gordon “Bubba” Dove and three additional SCIA awards. The scholarships are dedicated to improving the quality of education by providing funding to qualified candidates.

SCIA, the South Central Industrial Association, has been serving the region since 1997. The non-profit organization was designed to serve as a network for industrial businesses.

A nonpolitical corporation, SCIA has awarded thousands of dollars in scholsarships to area students. •
