Registration to a seminar aimed at helping businesses boost their sales is open.

Set for May 6 in Houma, the seminar, “Seven Strategies to Create Profitable Sales,” is aimed at teaching the three biggest mistakes companies make in sales and marketing and how to turn that around to maximize sales. Sponsored by the Tri-parishes’ four chambers – Houma-Terrebonne, Lafourche, St. Mary and Thibodaux – the program will be held from 9 a.m. to noon at the Terrebonne Parish Library North Branch, 4130 W. Park Ave., in Gray.

Instructor Greg Young, a highly rated communicator, has experience growing companies, including a local organization he helped go from $2 million to $40 million in annual sales. He also served as a chief financial officer and general manager of a company with annual sales of $160 million. He is also a former teacher and St. Mary Parish school board member.

The seminar’s focus includes:

• Defining your ideal prospects/customers and learning how to upgrade your customer list.

• When selling services, increasing your change of getting a “yes” in the sales process.

• Finding out what customers really want.

• Establishing value and demand for your products or services so you can price them at a premium.

• Giving something of value to your customers (get more back).

• Determining which new products and services to add.

• Developing consistency – a simple system to help you in marketing.

• Learning an almost sure fire way to get that first appointment with a business prospect.

• Learn ways to encourage and reward your sales reps.

• Best practices of the top sales reps.

The cost of the program is $25 for chamber members; $50 for nonmembers. Participants may register through their local chamber or, beginning at 8:30 a.m. the morning of the event.
