January 17, 2007The Louisiana Association of Business and Industry (LABI) elected officers during its 31st membership meeting in Baton Rouge last week.
The statewide business organization, which was founded in 1975, has approximately 5,500 members who represent over 3,500 businesses around the state. The majority of those companies n 80 percent n are small businesses.
William H. Fenstermaker, chairman/CEO of C.H. Fenstermaker & Associates, Inc., in Lafayette was elected chairman of the board.
A member of LABI since 1984, Fenstermaker has served on the board since 2003.
His company is a surveying and mapping, engineering and environmental consulting company with its headquarters in Lafayette and officers in Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Shreveport and Houston.
A strong advocate for Louisiana’s business value, Fenstermaker said, “In the past, we have had many opportunities to leverage our unique access to natural resources and to take advantage of our geographic location. Now, with record budget surpluses, it is time to invest a competitive tax structure and the infrastructure necessary for Louisiana-based companies to succeed in the global economy.”
Also elected were Bonnie Lemoine, vice chairman, Louisiana External Relations manager, Procter & Gamble Manufacturing, Alexandria; Fred Preis Jr., secretary, attorney, McGlinchey Stafford Law Firm, New Orleans; and Robert Yarborough, treasurer, CEO, Manda Fine Meats, Baton Rouge. Michael A. Mitternight, owner and president of Factory Service Agency in Metairie, will serve as immediate pas chairman and nominating committee chairman.
LABI’s Bayou area board members for the coming year are: Hank Danos, Danos & Curole Marine Contractors, Larose; Doug A. Gregory, Morrison Terrebonne Lumber Center, Houma; Joe Sanford Jr., Morgan City Rentals, Morgan City; Kenneth W. Smith, T. Baker Smith, Houma; Roy T. Sternfels, Thibodaux; and Gergald Welch, Welch Sales & Service, Larose.
