Louisiana collected about $6.5 million from a November sale of mineral leases on land owned by state and local governments.

The Mineral and Energy Board offered 39 tracts covering more than 32,000 areas, and sold 19 leases covering more than 2,400 acres. Last month, it collected $2.6 million on 28 leases covering about 3,000 acres.

It released figures Friday from the sale last Wednesday.

It says it has sold $45 million in leases this calendar year, and $18.7 million in the fiscal year that began in July.

Ten tracts were in north Louisiana and nine in the south. They were in the parishes of Acadia, Allen, Bienville, Cameron, DeSoto, Lafayette, Plaquemines, Red River and Terrebonne parishes.

The state Mineral and Energy Board is the exclusive body with the authority to lease for development and production of minerals, oil and gas, any lands belonging to the state, or the title to which is in the public.
