Thibodaux Regional Medical Center was presented a 2006 Summit Award for top patient satisfaction.

Press Ganey Associates gives the Summit Award annually. The group’s President and CEO Dr. Melvin F. Hall was on hand for the Jan. 23 presentation ceremony at Thibodaux Regional.

To be eligible, a hospital must maintain the highest level of patient satisfaction for at least three consecutive years. The Summit Award is the health care satisfaction industry’s most prestigious symbol of achievement, Hall said.

Only 14 hospitals in the nation received the Press Ganey Summit Award. Thibodaux Regional Medical Center was the only recipient in Louisiana to be given the award.

According to Hall, 1,800 hospitalsnmore than one-third of the nation’s inpatient hospitals n contract with his company to measure customer satisfaction. He said the company’s databases are the largest in the industry, and allow facilities nationwide to benchmark their results against peer organizations.

“Receiving this national award is a special honor to the employees and doctors of Thibodaux Regional, who each day, dedicate themselves to providing the best in care for our patients,” said Greg Stock, hospital CEO. “As a hospital that is continuously improving, this award exemplifies our commitment to excellence; yet, it compels us to work harder, and to see opportunities that would allow us even higher standards of excellence for our staff and our patients.”

The 185-bed acute care facility offers a broad array of inpatient and outpatient care services to Lafourche Parish citizens and the surrounding area, Stock said. Specialized services provided by the medical center include cardiology, heart surgery, oncology, neurology, neurosurgery, plastic and reconstructive surgery, pulmonary, behavioral health and inpatient and outpatient physical rehabilitation services.

Thibodaux Regional has won numerous awards in the past five years, including the Press Ganey Associates Award for patient satisfaction, outstanding service and best quality of care.

Other notable honors include the Quint Studer Firestarter Award for commitment to create a culture of excellence; the Louisiana Performance Excellence Award for Quality Leadership for excellence in leadership, quality, customer satisfaction and performance; the U.S. Senate Productivity Award for organizational productivity and efficiencies; and the QHR for best overall hospital performance in Region 4 and best overall hospital performance in the U.S.

“We are proud partners of Thibodeaux Regional Medical Center,” said Hall. “This is an outstanding accomplishment for the hospital and for Louisiana. The residents of this region should be proud and reassured to know that they have one of the best hospitals in patient satisfaction in the country.”
