Martinez named LSHPRM ‘Marketer of the Year’


Toni Martinez, marketing director for Thibodaux Regional Medical Center, was awarded a Golden Pelican Award in April by the Louisiana Society for Hospital Public Relations and Marketing.

The Golden Pelican Award recognizes excellence in individuals who advance the sound principles of communications, marketing and public relations within the hospital industry.


Martinez was named Marketer of the Year by LSHPRM at its recent awards luncheon.


In other LSHPRM news, Rhonda Alfred, director of marketing and planning for Terrebonne General Medical Center in Houma, was named president-elect of the organization.

The LSHPRM is an affiliate society of the Louisiana Hospital Association. The organization serves hospital marketing and public relations personnel and healthcare-related professionals.


LaBauve Joins MidSouth Bank


Kim LaBauve has been named retail store manager of MidSouth Bank’s St. Charles Street branch in Houma.

In her new role, LaBauve runs the daily operations of the banking center, supports a variety of sales and service functions and helps to develop new business throughout the Terrebonne Parish market.


A former personal banker at Chase, LaBauve has six years of banking experience.


She is a Houma native, and holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Nicholls State University. LaBauve also has an insurance license and a Series 6 investment license. She is a member of the Houma-Terrebonne Chamber of Commerce.

STAT Home Health receives Quality Award

STAT Home Health’s Houma office was among the firm’s branches given a Silver 2008 Louisiana Home Health Agency Quality Award.

STAT Home Health also received a Gold 2008 LHHA Quality Award for branches in Lafayette and Alexandria.

The Louisiana Home Health Agency Quality Awards were announced in May at the second Louisiana Health Care Quality Summit hosted by Louisiana Health Care Review, Inc. in Baton Rouge.

The Gold Award is given to agencies that have achieved relative health care quality improvement of 50 percent or greater. The Silver Award applies to achieved improvement of 40 to 49 percent. Awards were given for excellent performance and improvement in Acute Care Hospitalization and/or other outcomes. The measured areas were chosen as national care priorities by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

According to Louisiana Health Care Review CEO Gary Curtis, “utilizing proven standards of care can save lives. We applaud the work of these home health agencies in their dedication to quality patient care for the people of their community.”

Local firm grabs larger share of compact ball valve industry

Cortec Manifold Systems, a Houma-based company that outfits the Gulf Coast oil and gas industry with specialized equipment, recently expanded its product line with the acquisition of Technical Control Systems.

CMS purchased the Oklahoma City-based company’s entire product line, including compact ball, check, sub-sea ball and drilling diverted valves.

Chauvin said CMS makes and distributes manifold valves designed for high-pressure fluid control applications.

It also offers a variety of piping and flow line accessories that include almost any connection type in a range of sizes, pressure classes and materials.
