LPSO Deputies, with the help of Santa Claus, recently delivered over 200 bikes to children across Lafourche Parish.

“This year marks Sheriff Craig Webre’s 30th annual Christmas Bicycle Giveaway. Over the past 30 years, we have given away more than 5,500 bicycles to children in need in Lafourche Parish, including 225 this year alone,” reads an official statement from the Lafourche Parish Sheriffs Office. “While we used to refurbish used bikes that were donated to us, in 2021, we began only supplying children with brand new bikes thanks to generous donations from our community. We had nearly 1,000 requests for bicycles this year. This is a testament to the popularity of this program, and sadly, the number of families in need in our community. We hope to continue to provide bikes to children each year thanks to our generous donors.”

If you requested a bike and did not receive one, LPSO offers their apologies. They stated they had nearly 1,000 requests for bikes and could only fulfill about 225 this year.
