Correction: The original headline for this story, “Boyfriend arrested for woman’s death” was inaccurate and has been changed. The Tri-Parish Times apologizes for the mistake and any confusion it may have caused.

The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office charged a 35-year-old Houma man last weekend with committing the first homicide in Lafourche Parish this year.

Jamie Coleman, 205 Santa Monica Drive, Houma, is charged with second degree murder in connection with the death of Catina Stewart Jack, a 38-year-old Gibson woman whose body was found last Wednesday near a drainage ditch at the intersection of Talbot and Waverly Road in Thibodaux.

Stewart Jack had been shot at least one time in the head, police said.

Coleman was arrested the day the body was found on drug charges and child support issues and was still being held at the Lafourche Parish Detention Center when Judge Ashley Bruce signed an arrest warrant on Saturday for the murder.

Lafourche detectives were informed last Wednesday they could find Coleman, who LPSO refers to as an ‘acquaintance of Stewart Jack’s at 1295 St. Charles St. in Thibodaux.

‘Our detectives got information, and they simply were going to that address because they were told he was there, Hill said. ‘They were simply going there to question him, and he took off.

When investigators arrived on scene to question Coleman, Coleman attempted to flee, running naked out of the back of the house, Hill said.

After he was apprehended, an undetermined amount of powder cocaine was found in a plastic bag partially hidden up his anus, and more cocaine was found inside the back door of the house from which Coleman ran, Hill said.

Coleman was booked on possession with the intent to distribute cocaine and child support issues out of Terrebonne Parish. Bond on the drug charge was set at $49,000, and no bond was set for the child support charges.

LPSO handled two murder investigations in 2010 and made arrests in both cases.
