A Raceland man was shot on his porch Thursday night by two men, according to a Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesman. Detectives are continuing to investigate the murder.

Spokesman Larry Weidel said dispatchers received a call around 7:42 p.m. that Kentrelle Charles, 30, had been shot on the porch of his residence at 100 Kahn St. in Raceland. Witnesses told deputies that two black males approached and a struggle ensued, the spokesman said. Charles was shot twice before the men fled, he said.

Charles attempted to chase his shooters, but fell dead in his driveway, Weidel said.

Detectives worked through the night investigating the case, he said. They have obtained a possible description of one of the shooters, which is being followed up on, Weidel said.
