The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s office will have an online tax title sale today from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at www.civicsource.com. More that 250 properties ranging from $90 to $60,000 are up for sale.

The sale is open to the general public, and because the sale is hosted online, those that are unable to be at the sale in person will still have a chance to bid.

A list of available properties can be found on the website, and those bidding can register for the auction for free. Bidders can search the properties by interests and budget.

For those that do not have access to a computer, a limited amount of computers will be available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on a first come, first serve basis at the old courthouse at 201 Green Street in Thibodaux. LPSO staff will be on hand to direct participants to the computer terminal area.

The City of Thibodaux hosts its sale on the same day at the same website.

At the auction, properties that have delinquent taxes due are sold for the amount of delinquent taxes owed, as well as an accrued interest, penalties, costs and statutory impositions.

The property is sold to the person who bids the least percent ownership interest in the property. Those who purchase property must pay one installment within 72 hours of the auction closing. All sales are final.

In the future, Lafourche tax sales can been viewed at www.civicsource.com, which is also available by clicking the “Archon Information Systems” logo on the LPSO website.
